Yep, our low dose products are 100% hemp-derived and contain less than the federal limit of 0.3% delta-9 THC by dry weight.

In December of 2018, the Agricultural Improvement Act of 2018 (more well known as the Farm Bill) was signed into law. It removed hemp, defined as cannabis (Cannabis sativa L.) and derivatives of cannabis with less than than 0.3 percent delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) on a dry weight basis, from the definition of marijuana in the Controlled Substances Act (CSA).

Always. All CQ products undergo comprehensive analytical testing several times during the manufacturing process by both our in-house testing team and independent, third-party accredited laboratories.

If you haven’t consumed cannabis before, we recommend starting with no more than 5mg THC. Feel free to start with as little as 1 or 2mg too. There’s no rush, right? Better safe than sorry. Make an ice cube with any CQ drink and let it melt into something else for a slow measured start.

Our drinks are made with a combination of indica, sativa and hybrid strains. We use sustainable sungrown cannabis rather than indoor cannabis that has a much higher carbon footprint. We also infuse therapeutic compounds that are native to cannabis back into our products to restore various attributes that are lost in the heating process. (see: “What are terpenes?” and keep reading below) Similar to how vitamins are lost in your broccoli when you cook it, cannabis can lose some of its goodness when heated. That’s why we re-infuse multiple active ingredients found in cannabis back into our drinks after they are lost in processing.

Yes, but it takes integrity.  To create psychoactive cannabis drinks, we have to heat the cannabis oil in a process called decarboxylation. Without going into too much detail, decarboxylation basically makes the THC in cannabis psychoactive, but it also gets rid of terpenes and other beneficial ingredients that create indica, sativa and hybrid experiences. In order to honor some of the the diverse benefits cannabis can provide, we infuse a complex array of cannabis ingredients back into our drinks after the required heating process. If you see “indica” or “sativa” on our drinks, that’s because of the painstaking efforts we’ve put into making sure you can find a tailored product that works best for you.

It sure can. The THC molecule gets you high regardless of what type of cannabis it is sourced from. There is less THC to be found in the “hemp“ version of the cannabis plant than there is in the “marijuana” version of cannabis, but the THC molecule is the same, regardless of source. As long as the THC is sourced from the plant with a clean and responsible process, the source shouldn’t matter much (if at all) to most consumers from an efficacy standpoint. THC sourced from hemp can be sold and shipped online across most of the US, while THC from “marijuana” cannot.  The legal differentiator between a “hemp” and “marijuana” plant is nothing more than the THC levels allowed in the plant. “Hemp” and “marijuana” are the exact same species of plant. Federal law is quite interesting with regard to cannabis right now. To use an analogy, it has legalized one citrus plant while prohibiting another, just because it doesn’t contain as much vitamin C.

Most cannabis companies are adopting the standard that a single dose contains 5-10mg THC. This is a good rule of thumb but please note that everyone’s tolerance is different. Many people new to cannabis will find that 10mg THC is far too much and prefer to start with 1-5mg THC. Always start with a small amount and wait at least 30 minutes to an hour to understand the wave you’re riding. Many of our products contain multiple doses. We recommend pouring just a small serving and starting with a small amount. Be patient! Going slow will help ensure a pleasurable experience–and keep you coming back for more.

Cannabis affects the body differently depending on how it is consumed. The key difference between drinking and eating cannabis is that drinks are faster acting. Smoking and vaping, on the other hand, relies heavier on an aromatherapy component that provides more nuanced effects than eating or drinking.

Without getting too nerdy on you, the liver converts Delta-9-THC to 11-hydroxy-THC, which increases the length and intensity of the effects of THC that is swallowed and makes it’s way to your liver. Simply put, THC metabolizes differently when eaten than THC that is absorbed sublingually or inhaled.

Sublingual simply means “under the tongue.” In addition to smoking, vaping and eating, this is another way that cannabis can be consumed. This is why drinking cannabis is a preferred consumption method for many people–cannabis beverages start to take effect quicker than edibles which take more time to absorb. Try savoring a drink in your mouth a little longer for an experience more akin to smoking. The active ingredients will be more quickly absorbed into your bloodstream than when metabolized at the liver.

Both THC and CBD have beneficial qualities. Some are shared and some are different. THC is the cannabinoid that is responsible for the feeling of euphoria or the high. CBD alone does not create this effect. CBD can help relieve the feelings of anxiety sometimes associated with THC for a more gentle, relaxing experience. Terpenes are a class of organic compounds, produced by a variety of plants, not just cannabis. Terpenes give different strains of cannabis their distinctive smell and taste. The most common cannabis terpenes include alpha-pinene, beta-pinene, myrcene, limonene, caryophyllene and linalool. Terpenes are also responsible for the varied effects that different strains of cannabis have. Myrcene, for example, is a terpene known to help with relaxation whereas limonene is a terpene associated with elevated mood. Most terpenes are lost during the process of decarboxylation (heating cannabis to make it active) and need to be added back in later to maintain the characteristics of the original plant. For example, our Nighttime Berry Lime shot includes a proprietary terpene mixture similar to those found in certain sleep-inducing cannabis cultivars. Various terpenes are known to promote restful sleep.
